On our homepage you will find information about the G G O Foundation and about the von Gaffron und Oberstradam family. The G G O stands for:
Gawron, a castle and a city in todays Polen
Gaffron, a castle and a city in todays Poland
Oberstradam, a castle and a city in todays Poland.
All three has been Head seats of the family since early thirteenth century and fourteenth century.
During the mid-sixteenth century the family moved west to the castle and city of Kunern and Mittel-Schreibendorf as it came into the family hands trough marrige.

The Gaffron Castle consists of three manors; Large & Small Gaffron and the Gaffron Beitkau. Together about 4000 acres, of which 2,000 acres are arable, 1400 Morning forest, 300 meadows, etc.
During the first part of the fourteenth century to the late sixteenth century the Gaffron Castle was the Head seat of the von Gaffron und Oberstradam family. By marriage it came to the von Niebeischitz family, then to the von Schweinichen family, - under which the present castle was built. From 1780 to 1834 it belonged to the Counts von Schönaich-Carolatb, then the Medical Dr Mr Ebers and then to the Hauptman von Loeper. From the latter it was purchased in 1867 by Baron Conrad von der Reck. After ww2 it was taken by the Red Army. In 1945 and thereafter by the Communist regime in Polen.
